On Delta airlines flight from ghana to the U.S(JFK),what are some of the meals served at the economy class? How many times do they serve? How is the general entertainment like, how comfortable is this plane? What are some of the meals served on board?
Hi Miriam,
I have not traveled on Delta from Ghana (yet, but maybe next year), but in all the other flights I’ve taken out of Ghana to the US through JFK, BWI or Dulles (NorthAmerican, KLM, SwissAir, Ghana Airways), the food is basically the same. The food is made by a company in Accra, and it is your basic boneless chicken in stew, served with with potatoes or rice, sometimes fish, and once lamb (which surprised me as it was very very tasty). They give you some local cut up fruit cup, a croissant, some kind of soft cheese (the kind wrapped up in foil shaped like a triangle) and crackers.. Oh, there is a dessert, but it’s usually like a custard cup with oranges.
If I recall, even though the flight leaves late at night (midnight or so), they still serve dinner after takeoff. My kids were always asleep at this point, so I usually just collected the biscuits, croissants, cheese, etc. The stuff that I could stick in the seat pocket for when they woke up.
They do also serve breakfast about 2 hours before you arrive at JFK. Scrambled eggs, potatoes, a croissant with butter and jam, fruit, coffee/tee, juice. Basic breakfast, but filling enough.
There were 4 feature length movies on the NorthAmerican flights for those who can’t sleep. If you know the type of plane you’re flying, you can check the seating on www.seatguru.com and it will give you an idea. We always take window seats if it’s the 5 of us flying, 2 boys in the front row, me and my little girl in the row behind and Daddy way in the front. The middle sections are usually 4 seats across.
Hope this helps.
