Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this,

I am traveling from ottawa to Bc and i have burnt my mp3s and files to Cds as im am leaving my computer at home. I am curious with the uproar of piracy does Air Canada now check for burnt discs and if so is there a penatly for having them? Has anyone else travelled with their media burnt to discs?

It is not Air Canada that is your concern but the airport security. However it is unlikely that they will check the contents of any CD’s to determine what is on them, especially if they are in your checked luggage and packed in a CD case. It is common for people to copy their own data to CD’s so as long as you do not indicate on them what is burnt to them you should be okay. Of course there is always the chance but the major concern is with prohibited or restricted items.

I am flying from Toronto, ON to Tokyo, Japan which is roughly a 13 hour flight. I am 6′4" and am a little concerned about having my legs literally squished for that long in economy class. (2 hour flights are quite unbearable for me). I was once told that being over 6′ tall, I could request an emergency exit seat and they "have" to accommodate my request. If there is no emergency seat available at that point, I am automatically bumped to first class. Is this still a policy of Air Canada?

they r not gonna bump u to first just cuz ur tall I am 6′3 never been upgraded for free or emergency seat.
Dude they will gve u em seat if they want no rule,I think, still call them.

I booked my ticket via Expedia and I picked Air Canada; However, I received my confirmation and its stated; "Please check in with UNITED AIRLINES on the day of departure for boarding pass". I’m a bit confused what it means bc Air Canada has it own terminal and likewise for United Airlines. What does it mean exactly. Why asked to check in with UA; Why not go straight to Air Canada terminal and print my boarding pass cos I’ve noticed less line more kiosk. Would it work?

It means you have a codeshare flight. One of the reasons alliances were formed was for partner airlines to share routes that otherwise may not be profitable if both airlines operated the same route. I’ve flown many codeshare flights, and always have checked in at the check-in counter of the airline that actually flew the route, which in your case is United Airlines. At the United check in counter they most likely will show the flight number for both United and Air Canada.

what are the type of studies required to fly as pilot for AIR CANADA…
professional, vocational, collegial or university studies?

Typically…a 4 year college degree, commercial, instrument, multi and ATP ratings, and at least 1500 hours PIC.

Air Canada may have additional requirements, including their own training.

Good Luck

I signed up for Aeroplan and just bought an Air Canada plane ticket. I signed in with my Aeroplan number while booking the flight, but my Aeroplan account still shows zero points. Do you earn points when purchasing plane tickets from Air Canada or do you need to take the flight first? Or do you only earn points from other partners, such as renting cars and hotel rooms, and then you redeem the points by using them while buying your plane ticket?

Your miles are not posted until after you complete your flight(s), give them a couple weeks or so after you fly until the miles are posted. Same goes for miles earned from partners.

I’ve flown Air Canada a couple of times and I’ve never had any problems. So I was just wondering why there seems to be this universal but non-specific dislike of the airline.

The poor company has been bumped around and beat up since deregulation.

Look at its former CEO. He sold off AC’s regional carrier, maintenance division, and frequent flyer plan (the three profitable branches of Air Canada). For whatever reason, the profits earned from the sales were handed over to shareholders, the mainline company not getting a penny. At the time the mainline company was 1.4 billion in debt, and the employees were asked to take over 1 billion dollars worth in pay cuts. The former CEO is presently a multimillionaire living in London England. So obviously employees of Air Canada are pretty upset.

And guess what most of Air Canada’s unhappy customers are upset about? Poor service from Air Canada staff. Lost baggage, delayed flights, fluctuating ticket prices, these are things that all airlines suffer from and complaints to this respect are always dealt with by the company. But unhappy employees is tough to tackle, especially in the airline business.

i can’t seem to find a list of where you can go with how many airmiles on the air canada site… help please?

thanks!

It would help if you listed where in Australia you want to go to.

When you are on the Air Miles website, go to Tools, it shows a drop down and you’ll see Flight Calculator.

There’s Toronto to Sydney for 13500 Air Miles if the departure date is:

September 16 - Dec. 15, 2008
January 8 - February 28, 2009
April 1 - May 31, 2009

Other is for 18200 if departure date is:

December 16, 2008 - January 7, 2009
March 1 - 31, 2009
June 1 - Sep 15, 2009

These are the regular offers but for both of these listed dates for non-partner offers are 18200.

I do not know if with Air Canada but hope this helps.

You can call 1-888-247-6453 or 416-226-5171 (local) and see if they can assist with further questions you may have.

Air Canada does Aeroplan miles.

http://www.aircanada.com/en/home.html - Look at the bottom where it says on right (besides Contact Us) and it will direct you to the Aeroplan website.

If you are with Aeroplan, you can go to Flight at the bottom and type in Round Trip (YYZ to wherever in Australia and see how many Aeroplan miles).

Air Canada is cheaper, AA is more expensive, but I have heard mixed stories in which airline is better, can’t decide someone please help.

I have heard mixed results with Air Canada’s service. Some people think it is really good. Others have said the airline’s service is poor. I am sure both airlines’ service for international flights should be better than their domestic service.

AA flies to more destinations in Latin and South America so their presence in the area is better. Therefore they may meets the needs of the passengers flying down to those areas better.

But a question for you to think about is this. Will you be flying again and with what airline? Air Canada is in the Star Alliance. Therefore if you fly any one of the Star Alliance airlines, then you can earn mileage for a free ticket. If you will be traveling American Airlines or any of their OneWorld partners in the future, then fly American on this trip. It sounds as though you will be able to rack up some mileage on this trip so whichever airline you go with, ask to become a frequent flyer member with the airline or partner airline you think you will fly the most with in the future.

If you will not be flying anytime after this trip, then you can check out seatguru.com to check the seat pitch and seat width for each of the airlines. Otherwise, you should be fine going with either carrier.

i would wanna know how much it would cost to get a product into the air canada magazine, and to get it published into the magizene.

dont u think you should be caling them?
