I was wondering if frontier airlines have little personal TV’s. Like im flying from Georgia to California and i know its going to be a looong trip so i was wondering if anybody knows if they have little TV’s so ill know if i need to bring something to entertain myself on the plane !! thanks !!

Quote from SeatGuru.com

"Each seat features a personal LCD video monitor and DirecTV with 24 channels of live satellite television. DirecTV costs $5.99 per flight segment, but is free to Ascent and Summit level frequent flyer members.

Please note, Frontier no longer accepts cash for inflight purchases. Major credit cards, as well as MasterCard and Visa debit cards, will be the only authorized forms of payment."

This applies to all Frontier Airlines aircraft.

I’m flying virgin america airlines and i want to bring my dog on the plane with me.
On their website it says this: We add a $100.00 fee per segment to the price of your reservation for the transportation of each pet.And yes, carry-on pets count towards a guest’s carry-on baggage allowance.

Does that mean that I don’t have to pay since it says segment meaning that it is separate from me and my dog wouldnt be in another seat he would just be under my seat??

Yes you wil have to pay for taking your dog with you.
Where the dog travels depends on his/her size. Small dogs can travel with you as long as they fit (and stay) inside your dog purse (so only small dogs).
larger dogs will go into the cargo hull in the airplane. they are given a relaxation pill so that they do not feel soo much.
as you can see the airlines treat dogs like cargo(bags) and therefore the charge will also be different.

contact your ariline for further information and ask for specific prices, be prepared to give them your dogs breed and weight information. also ask whether you have to bring the sleeping pills yourself.

hope this helps

EDIT:
i just read over the airline specification and found some differences there.
First of all yes you have to pay 100$ per kennel (even if two animals are in the box)
Where do they travel :
"Virgin America is a pet-friendly airline that accepts cats and dogs in the Main Cabin of the aircraft. Pets checked as baggage are not accepted. "
THEY DO NOT have to go in the cargo area. lucky you, and lucky pet of yours
But they do have to travel in a kennel max 18*15*8 inches(a cage like box) which YOU have to provide. The total weight of the animals and kennel cannot be above 20 pounds. The pet can not leave this kennel as long as it is on the aiport AND aiplane.

please be sure to check the vetenarian before departure since you also need a health certificate 30 days prior to departure.

"Carry-on pets count towards a guest’s carry-on baggage allowance" means that you arent allowed as much hand luggage anymore.

I’m taking a trip to the Manila, Philippines from North Carolina and I wanted to know what to expect on all the flights over there. So if you could tell me a little about the airline and what to expect that would be great!!!

depends on the plane you have and route taken. i have flown with them all over and they are better than some other services…they have a nice one from california to japan/bangkok…with on demand videos, games and entertainment. they always give more food then you really need. enjoy your trip.

Asking from Japan.
I’m always Northwest. I know I can buy Ticket NWA website, but I am looking for cheaper fare .
Please let me know good Tavel Agent in Manila.

need to : use Japan issued credit card, must have website.

I think its better from their website than any other as they may not accept it or may have trouble.Usually big sites like travelocity, etc. have a good fare.

Yesturday we went from Denver to Chicago on Frontier Airlines and we heard on the ground these noises that sounded like a saw going back and forth only when we were on the ground or Taxiing.
What is that?
Please give a Detailed Explanation.
Thanks
It was in the middle of the plane.

here is another supplment to Sul’s info

skimming through the posts i copy&pasted three important ones

this one is from Michael

It is the HYD PTU (Hydraulic Power Transfer Unit). It comes on automatically when the differential pressure between the green and the yellow system is greater than 500 PSI (normal system pressure is 3000 PSI). This normally happens, when you start or shut down an engine. The PTU is working only for a few seconds or even less than that, because it stops when the pressure in the associated system is at 3000PSI again (that’s the "barking" sound). And there are not to many hydraulic functions needed while shutting down an engine. So the pressure is maintained easily.

There are a few more parameters that affect PTU automatic operation. But that would lead us to far off topic.

The PTU is indeed the correct answer.

I will shed a bit more light on why the pitch changes as the engine spools down.

As Michi stated above, the PTU comes on when the pressure in the other system drops. The PTU runs just long enough to repressurize the system … a second or two, then stops. During the next few seconds, the system depressurizes slowly due to "internal leakage" in the hydraulic system. When the difference in pressure agan reaches 500 psi, the PTU cycles.

and another by Pete

As the engine spools down, the flow from the engine driven pump available to drive the PTU is reduced, therefore the PTU speed and power transfer to the second system is also reduced. Thus, it runs slower, and takes a bit longer to repressurize the second system - this explains the lower pitch. When the engine stops, the PTU no longer receives flow from the engine pump, so it, too, "dies".

I would be glad to answer any questions on the PTU or other hydraulic components. I worked on the Vickers PTU which is used on some of the A320 series.

another signed tom

quite common. our A319/320’s usually taxi-out on engine 2. during taxi-out, they start, turn & ignite the engine 1. here @ AWA, our pilots
usually turn engine 2, during pushback & engine 1 during taxi-out.

as posted above, the PTU is hydraulically controlled & required to enable engine starts. next time you are boarding any A319/320, you will also hear the outward-opening, hydraulically controlled cargo doors closing or opening after arrival @ the gate.

the A319/A320 with the IAE V2500 series engines have a very dramatic & distinct sound when starting! Once the engine igniters have been turned off, the engines have a very high-pitched whine, but yet quiet. the idle also audibly increases.

in the US: AWA, jetBlue & United use the IAE V2500 series engines. all the other carriers use the CFM-56-5 series engines.

however, the composite airframe produces that unique high to low pitched "Dolby" effect, during approach. i figured that out here in PHX, by observing all the various A318/319/320 & 321’s for carriers on ILS Arrival for Runway 8. my apartment is 5 miles north of PHX & 2 miles south of the final approach pattern. so, the planes are usually @ 6000ft.

Same thing in PIT, my folk’s house is on ILS Arrival for Runway 32. they are about 10 miles out. all the US A319/320/321’s & UA 319/320’s have the same high to low pitch as they pass overhead. i like to show off for my parents! when we are sitting on the deck outside & I announce "airbus", without even looking up.

I haven’t done a group interview before and I am going to be interviewed in this way initially and then they make a cut and those that make it go on to a face to face interview with the recruiting panel

The position is Airport Team Member (ticketing, check in, Departure gate, assessing baggage weight limits, general duties at aiport)

Has anyone out there in Answers-land done this interview/this type of interview and can you advise what questions and what to expect?

Have you worked as an airline customer service person at the airport?

All answers/ideas/advice gratefully received

Thanks in advance!

Hi! I haven’t but I would say based on American society if you’re in a group you’re going to have to stand out and be extraverted.

Answer questions with good volume, confidence, and a few details. Try to give more than a one word answer so that you can show some personality.

Good luck!

This could be a great opportunity for you to earn a bonus 20,000 ("WorldPerks") miles in the Northwest Airlines promotional program called "the Great Race"

Please see http://www.fodors.com/forums/threadselect.jsp?fid=2&tid=35103082 for more info.

I am not affiliated with Northwest Airlines in any way, except in the sense of being a member of their World Perks program - - and prepared to help YOU (and myself) earn a bonus 20,000 miles!

Best wishes,

Rex, a physician, in Indiana

I was, but read the rules first and found out I was disqualified. It’s a program to try to bring back people who enrolled in Worldperks but barely use it. If you have earned any Worldperks miles since Jan. 1, 2006 you are ineligible.

I’m looking to go to Los Angeles who should i choose, I’m not considering an american airline due to bad experience friends have had, and i’ve only ever used Virgin when going to america so have no idea what BA are like!

I think virgin is better but BA is not bad too.
