Opinions on Delta Airlines….?

Jan-17-2010 By admin

I’m going to take a Delta in August for my trip and I never went on Delta, I usually go on Continental for flights in America. I was just wondering if how it’s like. It would really be good if you compare to Other Airlines, I’ve been to:

-Continental
-Virgin Atlantic
-Iran Air
-Emirate
-Lufthansa
-British Airways
-KLM

i went to some more, i dont remember (was too little) but you can still compare to other planes that aren’t here.

I’m returning to Delta service. I like they get me in 3 legs to my final destination because they are partners with Continental and using a flexible web site that checks for convenient dates. Delta has always provided the service I purchased and never lost my baggage. The Delta planes are a little outdated, but I like smaller jets anyway.

The German airline in your list was great FROM Germany. They were terrible GOING out of DFW, they assigned our reserved seats to someone else and gave us coach.

The Emirates you pay for and get what you pay for. Fabulous, but costly.

I’ll never fly British, France nor KLM ever again — you are begging for lost baggage going through their main home-based cities.

Considering Frontier is AirTran’s affiliate, can those Rewards Vouchers be used?

Yes. Pretty much the only thing that AirTran and Frontier’s partnership does it to allow passengers to use the A+Rewards and EarlyReturns miles between the two airlines. Book your Frontier Airlines travel through the AirTran website so that you can use your AirTran voucher on a Frontier flight. If that doesn’t work, call AirTran or Frontier and ask them.

Happy flying!

I’m from New York City and is planning on visiting Brisbane Australia during the holidays. I notice that I need to transfer between 2 - 3 different airlines before I get to my destination. When i go i’m taking Delta Airline transfer to V Australia to get to Brisbane. When i come back, i’m taking V Australia which stops for a moment and I need to take another flight from that airline and than transfer to Virgin America to get back to NYC.

So i was wondering will my luggages be transfer to the different airlines?

They will ask or tell you when you first check in that your luggage will be transferred straight through to your destination. Once I had to pick up my luggage in London and re-check it but they are not doing it anymore, just another hassle and completely unnecessary.

Hi,
I have to go to a airport team member interview tomorrow morning, I have no clue what to expect, any thoughts?
Thanks in advance for everone’s advice/ideas.

I’ve been asked by my airline (not VX) to sit in and participate on several of these "group" interviews.. What I noticed the emphasis was on is looking for "personality" and "presence"..

For example, when you answer do you look only at the person asking the question or do you also look around the rest of the group to see if they’re following you and understand?… It’s a GROUP interview so be sure to acknowledge everyone else in the group as you answer.

When you speak, do you speak enough clearly for everyone in the group to hear you and in an appropriately articulate manner? …. Be sure to use easy to understand language and stay away from excessively "street" language like "that sucks".. bu rather "it’s unfortunate when…"

What kind of presence do you have when you speak?.. They’ll be looking for those who someone will *want* to listen to when they speak.. You don’t have to have a booming voice, but you need to be somewhat animated and someone that will pay attention to..

Can you tell a story or give directions in a timely manner? Most all jobs that are customer-facing with an airline are time sensitive.. In other words, you can’t take forever to explain something to someone or take too long to complete a transactions. They’ll be looking for someone who can "tell a story" so-to-speak, to a passenger but can do so in a timely manner without being to ‘curt’ or ’short’ while doing so.

Lastly, are you professional in appearance?.. Sounds bad, but they’re looking to see if you can maintain a professional appearance.. You don’t need to be the thinnest, or tallest or anything, but do you maintain yourself in a professional manner.. Remember you’ll be required to wear a uniform and most airline have restrictions as to how much person jewelery you can wear, visible tattoos, and such.

A few last pointers.. NO gum chewing.. have nothing in your mouth when you talk.. Sit straight up in your chair– bad posture is noticeable..

Good Luck

So i want to boook a plane ticket in a few weeks…I want to go to Portland and go golfing. I would have to bring my set of clubs along, and I am wondering how much Northwest Airlnes/Delta Airlines would charge me for luggage fee ? I am wondering how much each way ..PLEASE HELP!

First checked bag $15, 2nd $25

# Northwest will accept baggage up to a maximum of 50 pounds (23 kg) and a total linear dimension of 62 inches (158 cm) per piece.
# Additional charges apply for baggage weighing more than 50 pounds (23 kg) or with a total linear dimension of more than 62 inches (158 cm) per piece.

I need to know for my research paper but i can’t find that information anywhere so please help?

There used to be about 5000 total, but that number has changed I’m sure. Have you tried calling the company and asking?

I’m thinking of flying with NWA, but I haven’t booked my tickets yet. Will be flying from LAX to Singapore. Since NWA is the cheapest, I’m thinking of going with them. I read some reviews that it’s not the best airline to fly with, especially the food (but maybe different people has different taste), and that you don’t have your private screen monitor for movies and stuff.

Does the airline have any recent crashes? And what about their FA service? Some reviews I read says they were rude, and I’m assuming that’s because they had a strike and that they were overworked and underpaid. I guess since I’m being cheap about this trip, I shouldn’t complain too much, but my main concern is the safety and if they are on time, cos I have to catch another plane ride when I get to Singapore.

Re: crashes -
In the last 10 years, since Jan 1, 1999 through today, there have been 40 incidents recorded by the NTSB for Northwest Airlines. None of these were crashes in the sense you are probably thinking of - these have been ground incidents, significant turbulence, some instrument malfunction, blown tires and so on. The only fatality in that time was 1 ground crew employee, when a tow tractor collided with a plane while it was parked at a gate.

You can do your own search as far back as 1962, and read details of any incident here:
http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/query.asp

As for everything else - as you say - everyone’s taste is different; there are rude employees in any company (though you would hope there would be fewer in an airplane crew), percent on time in the past is not always indicative of the performance on any single flight - weather, mechanical and air traffic control issues are often unpredictable.

Sometimes you get what you pay for - i.e. cheap flight - cheap service, other times not, and I suspect that you and anyone else who travels on the same flight as you might have very different interpretations of your shared experience - depends a lot on an individual’s personality and expectations. Reviews are quite helpful, but when I look at them for a place or an item I am interested in, I am always struck by how completely opposite opinions the reviewers often have. No question that it makes it hard to know how much reliability to put on any review.

Whatever you decide, I do hope you have a pleasant, on time, flight

Im flying to Las Vegas at the end of May with Virgin arilines, i havent flown with them before and wanted to know what they are like, and do u get any freebies? cos BA give free alcohol etc!
Im flying from Gatwick or Heathrow! I cant remember at the moment, Im intrigued to know whats in the "goodie Bag" can u elaborate?

I’m not sure about alcohol, but when I flew VA to London, I was impressed by their flare, service, and the goodie bag I got. Overall I would fly them again. In this day and age, I’d be hard pressed to find major differences between airlines, besides maybe Southwest–they are the most progressive and don’t charge for luggage check-ins.

I have been doing a lot of research for the best flight deal…It seems that Virgin America Airlines has the best deal so far….Has anyone flown on this airline?..if so how is it?…Also do airlines offer deals on black friday..have you ever seen this???..want to know if i should wait until then to purchase my from NYC-JFK tickets to Las Vegas in January.

If I were you, I wil book that flight right away. You can also check sites like Southwest airlines or US Airways. Also do a search on kayak engine. It will check all airlines going to Vegas and all major travel sites and return the cheapest fare. Here is a helpful link.
