Yes, it is generally cheaper than other travel sites, and it lets you change your dates without change fees.

my husband is taking me on vacation for my 21st birthday this coming january. is it too far in advance to book it? i would like to go back to las vegas or try somewhere new like hawaii or london.

also, when is the best time to book one? and any good sites besides cheaptickets.com or travelocity.com?

thanks! =]

I am a rodeo cowboy and I tend to travel extensively. You can try a website called bookingbuddy.com. It allows you to check out all of the websites that carry a discount. The only one that is not on there is southwest.com, xjet.com, and allegiant air. Try to book the flight about no earlier than a month out and no later than 2 weeks out. You can monitor the situation during this time and buy when you think the price is right. Hope this helps and have a good b-day!!

I’m looking for a flight from Memphis,tn to Jakarta, Indonesia in the middle of May. and I found a really cheap flight. but when I clicked on the seat chart, it showed that there were no available seats to be assigned. but I also notice this on the seat chart…"Not all flights have Seat Map technology." could this mean that there are available seats but they’re just not showing it for this particular flight?

A common reason for this is the fact that airlines hold back blocks of seats for assignment at check-in. This would mean that, despite the conspiracy theories posted above, Travelocity would be able to book a confirmed ticket for you, but would not be able to allocate a seat. That latter would be done at the airport when you check-in.

The reason the airlines hold back seats is so they can group families together who hadn’t previously reserved specific seats, plus emergency exit rows are usually blocked off until they can see the person requesting the seat (can they open the door in an emergency?), and also any "better" seats they can reserve for their frequent flyers who weren’t able to get an upgrade.

Look at the seating chart and see if there appear to be several rows missing in the number sequence. That is often a way that airlines use to block off seats.

College Basketball should replace March Madness with a bunch of Burger King, Subway, and travelocity.com Bowls. Don’t you agree?

Are you nuts? College Basketball is great the way it is. The teams have earned their way into the NCAA Tournament, they don’t need a conciliation game (bowl game). They shouldn’t sell out like football did. All that crap is the reason why I can’t stand College Football now. Besides, thats what the NIT, Maui Invite and Old Spice Classic that were just played are for. I strongly disagree.

I’m going to Sydney a few days before Christmas this year and I know that airfare is more expensive at Christmas time but the cheapest I’ve been able to find is $2,500-$3,000 searching over travel sites like expedia.com and travelocity.com. Is there anywhere that I can find airfare for around $2,000 or $2,100?

Sometimes you can find promotions on www.skyauction.com. They occasionally have special fares you can bid on. Input your maximum amount and the program will continue to bid for you until it reaches the max you have offered to pay. If you win you then have the choice of the number of tickets you want to buy (from the number available). The company will email you, and you simply tell them the travel dates you have in mind. They will not send you ticketsbut instead will email a voucher and your purchase is automatically registered with the airline. So far, it is the best I have found out there without having any "inside" travel contacts and I did quite a bit of homework on this. I have purchased very reasonable tickets from this website; however, the risk of course is that you may not win the auction. If you begin early enough on the auction before you plan to make the trip it may very well be worth your effort and really you will have nothing to lose. If you lose the auction you pay nothing. Personally, I saved about 50% in airfare. Good luck and happy travels! :-)

i am going on a honeymoon here real soon, and i know the dates, i know the hotel, and i know the specific type of room that i want.

i need to get the cheapest price for that room…

i looked on expedia.com, travelocity.com, orbitz.com and the hotel website.

i havent called yet.

im not sure if a travel agent can get me a cheap enough price to offset the savings.

someone also recommended to me that i not reserve anything. they said i should just show up and that i might be able to get a room pretty cheap that way. im a little nervous about that because i dont want them to sell out (touristy area)

have i exhausted my options or is there something else i can try?

Boy someone gave you bad advice. Do not show up and expect a cheaper room. The opposite is true, showing up is more likely to be more expensive or sold out. If it is touristy like you say, then all the more likely it will be booked. If you are standing there at their front desk with luggage and far, far from home, the hotel knows they usually can dictate the price. And by the time your honeymoon comes around, you will be happy to have all the details taken care of.

Sometimes waiting a bit will help. If they aren’t booking as fast as they like, or have a sale. Especially on line. So depending on how far off the trip is, you could take a chance and keep checking and checking. But it is a risk too, AND NOT leaving it until you show up.

You have researched prices. Give them a call. Ask availability, then ask the price. Let them know you are booking your honeymoon, and ask if there are any specials or cheaper rates. The main tip for getting better rates is calling and asking for a better rate.

I was just going to see how much it would be but I’m not sure if the parks are included.

If your going to Disney your best bet is to book through Disney! It is the easiest and they are super helpful. If you do the magic your way package, the price will include food, hotel and park admission. If you go to Disney.com you can quote your trip, it’s farley simple, just fallow the instructions, pick your dates, your hotel and what type of dinning package you want. If you think it is to complicated you can all Disney Direct and they can help you. The main Disney Info number is 407-824-2222 they can connect you to someone who can help you with reservations.

I’ve been going to Disney almost 2 a year for the past 15 years! It is my favorite vacation destination place EVER!

Which airline is better?

Sep-16-2009 By admin

I’m in Canada but live near the border and am going to be taking a trip and flying out of Syracuse. I’m booking on travelocity.com and my choices are US Airways and United. If you’ve flown on either I’d love some feedback as I usually travel Air Canada so I don’t know which is better. They’re the same price. Is it 6 of one, half a dozen of the other? Thanks!

U.S Airways has better facilities than United including:
Live T.V(one T.V per seat)
comfortable seats

If u are looking for airline with nothing much choose United.
Otherwise choose U.S Airways. About Air Canada I don’t know anything much so u may want to try the others.
Happy flying!

I’m going to check travelocity.com and expedia.com, but I want more options, just in case I can’t find anything on those websites. Whoever gives me the winning website/idea wins!
:0)
It’s in the United States, but that’s all I’m going to say. I’m extra picky about what kind of info I put on the web.

I found that sometimes you get the best way is to call airlines direct. Sometimes the internet is cheaper, sometimes the phone operators are cheaper, sometimes travel agents are cheaper. Check out all three to make sure you get the best deal. There are a few other simple suggestions you should follow too:

– Choose the same airline for all legs of your itinerary whenever possible so you can take advantage of all connecting and round-trip airfares.

– Try to fly on the least popular days: Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday.

– Remember that Saturday night stays are usually required for most bargain airfares.

– Try to select the least popular flight times: mid-morning or late evening.

– Check with discount airlines for cheaper fares.

– Try to book as far in advance as possible. Generally try to purchase your tickets at least 21 days in advance of departure. Many airlines also have specials requiring three-, seven- or 14-day advance purchase.

– In general, the cheapest airfares are available in the spring and summer.

– If you travel around the holidays, book your departure and return flights a day or more before and after peak travel dates. If you’re flexible, you might benefit by waiting until the last minute to book your flight because major carriers often run special sales. These sales, however, often have a long list of rules, restrictions and blackout dates.

–Consider booking tickets that come with restrictions because they also come with a cheaper price tag.

– Consider using alternate airports near your desired airport. The extra drive can save you hundreds of dollars.

–Be as flexible as possible with your dates.

Good luck and I hope you have a wonderful trip!

may be travelocity.com?

Kayak.com.

It aggregates all the other travel web sites, and tells you WHICH of those other web sites has the lowest fare.
