In the wake of the Hudson river incident, the media was glorifying the US- Airways, so I tried to buy a ticket from them, but then I decided not to travel, and I asked for a refund, but they declined to give my $350 back, they said I can only get $250 credit on my account, and that is only valid, if I travel through US-airways with in a year, otherwise it's void!
so what can I do?
You most likely bought a non-refundable ticket and chose not to travel. Therefore the airline assesses a penalty because of that. Since you bought the ticket, you might as well use it. If you have already canceled your ticket and have a $250 credit, find a place you want to visit and use the credit towards the ticket purchase so the $250 does not go to waste.
My husband and I will be traveling on united airlines. We are bringing our two dogs. They are going under our seats. The airline told me the carriers cannot be no more then 17×10x10. I am having a difficult time finding these size requirements, plus the ones I found want a forturne. Any ideas? Any ones you know about? help me please
i have a 9 lb. shih tzu and a 6 lb. chihuahua
Petsmart, and even Walmart and Target usually have appropriate, airline approved carries. Vet offices too, but they would cost more. Also, check Craigslist.
A few months ago I booked a flight through travelocity.com for $800. Recently, however, I found several flights for $300, and desperately want to cancel my original reservations so I can put that extra money toward my trip. I keep hearing awful things about travelocity customer service, and the site DOES say that tickets are non-refundable, but has anyone ever found a way to get around this? Would it make a difference if I went directly through the airlines (Northwest and Horizon)? Any ideas at all?
I realize its "non-refundable", and I agreed to those terms when I purchased the ticket. I did NOT, however, foresee such a drastic decrease in ticket prices. I also know that airlines are obligated to offer refunds under certain circumstances - just not sure exactly which ones.
Goodness, this is "yahoo answers", not "needless criticism.com". I don't fly often, and I know there is often a lot of oft unmentioned fine print that might be useful in situations like this. So thanks to those who actually answered my questions! My flight has been rescheduled 3 times - I will call the airlines and ask for the their refund policies concerning this.
There is nothing you can do. Buying airline tickets is like the stock market. No refunds on that stock that’s now worth 25% of what it was either.
The only way you’ll likely get this refunded is if the itinerary has had an involuntary reschedule (flight times, or flights changed outside your control) then you can get a refund.
It will probably have to be in Fall or Winter since I used most of my vacation up this summer and I accumulate vacation time monthly.
Anyone have any suggestions on where to go. I was thinking the Fur Rondy in Febuary, Juneau in October or the Great Alaska Shootout around Thanksgiving
Re the Mexico suggestion - sure, if it is a free ticket including Mexico. But usually they hand out domestic BTTs (Bonus Travel Tickets) for getting bumped.
Now, onto your question: September is a good time to come because there is still a lot of light, but most all the tourists and fisherman have gone home. So there are plenty of vacancies, campsites, etc. And not nearly so many motorhomes clogging the roads. And as we start to get freezing nights, it really knocks down the squitters. May is a good time for the same reasons.
Back when I lived in CA and WA, my favorite use of freq flyer awards and BTTs was to go as far as I could. They are good for a round trip ANYWHERE Alaska Airlines flies domestically, so why turn around in Anchorage. One layover is allowed. So book a roundtrip to Nome or Kotzebue or Barrow or King Salmon with a layover for a week or two in Anchorage.
Any of those towns are worth a day to look around. You can see everything in town. Twice. Barrow is good for northern lights (the sun sets by then) and Innuit culture. Nome is a frontier town still. King Salmon ain't much but you can connect to Brook's Camp and Katmai National Park for grizzly bear viewing.
Then back in Anchorage, rent a car and go to Denali (they let you drive your own car on the park road the last week before they close it). Or come down to the Kenai Peninsula and check out the views, art, and hippies in Homer; the aquarium, fjord, and Ressurection Bay boat tours in Seward, and hiking trails out of Cooper Landing.
OR, make Anchorage your destination, but come up on the "milk run" flight and layover in Juneau for a few days.
Hope that helps.
Hello! I have just been invited to training for a flight attendant position for Southwest Airlines. My packet came in the mail a couple of days ago, and I must say I am a little stressed over all of the information i am expected to know before I even get there! :p I really want to do well, as this has been my dream for about 5 years now. What should I expect in training? Any tips or tricks for studying that may help? Also, are the test multiple choice fill in the blank or what?? HELP PLEASE!!
I can't speak for Southwest, but I can tell you about my experience when I went to flight attendant training for the airline I used to fly for.
I got a similar book in the mail before I started training. Learn all of the stuff, not memorize it, before training starts. We had a test on it immediately. Whoever failed it was kicked out of the program. Studying was easy for me. I caught on to it really good and never really studied outside of class. But others in my group frequently studied as a huge study group. You'll be attached to the hip of the people in your class, so get to know them all well!
Our tests were both multiple choice and fill in the blank with an occasional true/false. The hardest part for me was sea survival portion when we went into the huge pool with our vests on. I got through it okay, but I don't like swimming, even though I grew up on the water.
You'll be fine. Did they tell you though that you'll have a HUGE button on your shirt the first time you work a real flight that says "Flight attendant in training." I got a training flight a while back. They were working a few flights before they went back and took their cumulative exams. Best of luck and hopefully you'll be slinging those little bags of peanuts in no time!
Hello….I'm going to be flying from the U.S. to the U.K. but i have 2 stopovers one in San Francisco and one in Dublin. I'm flying to SF on United Airlines and then from SF to Dublin and the U.K. (both) on Aer Lingus. But I arrive in SF an hour before my other flight leaves. Am I going to have to find my bags and check in again before my other flight leaves or are my bags just going to go right through even if they are on different airlines??? It's an international flight so I'm worried that I won't have time. Plus United and Aer lingus don't have like a deal with each other. I booked all of the flights together for one price at cheapoair.com but it shows online that they are 2 seperate tickets. One for United to SF and one from SF to Dublin and then to England. Help Please!
If they are 2 separate tickets you probably will have to get your bags, then check them in again.
That's not so bad, though–maybe it will increase the chance that your bags will actually end up at the same place as you!
I found a good travel deal on Orbitz.com. Is that a good site? I read some bad stuff about it on here. Should I book my vacation with them??
Did you have a good experience using them? Did you rent a car with them? was it hassle free?
thanks
go on kayak.com i used them to buy all my plane tickets they have been always the cheapest for me and the price they show online at the search is the actual price tax’s and all the other crap included
I will go to visit my Chinese sweetheart for the first time in October/November 2008!
She lives in Zhuhai, China and I live in Minneapolis, MN (MSP=airport code). [MSP is a hub for Northwest Airlines (NWA).]
What are the best flight/airline choices? Could it be through Macau (since it is so close to Zhuhai)?
If Macau is a good choice, will I have more problems entering/leaving China (i.e. what to watch out for visa-wise)?
THANK YOU!
The reason I ask is that it seems very expensive to go with NWA and that there are some charter flights direct to Macau.
It seems there is no direct service to Zhuhai from the USA (but I am very inexperienced, so I don't know!).
Going through Macau will not present any visa problems. You don’t need a visa to go to Macau but apply for your Chinese visa before leaving the states. You can apply for it in Macau as well but I recommend you sort it out before leaving in case there are any problems.. Fly to Macau and take a bus or something to Zhuhai.
I am being told there may not be a movie shown on my Northwest flight from Phoenix to Detroit?? Why not? It's supposed to be a 4 hour flight!!! It's on a Boeing 757-200 if that helps. The trip from Detroit to Phoenix will be almost 4 and a half hours. I've never been on a flight that long without a movie.
I'm not sure, sorry but you can call the airlines and ask them, if they just provide with TV you can do, its only 4 hours or so so you'll survive, don't worry. Just in case, bring something else entertainable like a magazine or a book, portable music players, maybe even a labtop if you need too.
