i booked reservations for a hotel for 2 nights on travelocity.com. does that booking go straight to hotel or do i have to call the hotel?
Have a confirmation number? all done. Hotels do not need confirmation like airlines do (to make sure the flights are on time)
You dont' have to call anyone. Just arrive with your information… but if you want to feel secure in your booking…
Depends on how you booked it.
was it a "good buy" hotel?
it may take a while for the hotel to get the reservation.
Travelocity will always have the information.
There are two ways travelocity can book a hotel room for you:
a "SABREIZED" hotel or a consolidated hotel
The consolidated hotel is a room that Travelocity has already bought from the hotel- they buy them in bulk.
On a consolidated hotel, the hotel charges Travleocity, and then Travleocity charges you.
on a "SABREIZED" hotel- you have booked a room directly through the SABRE reservations system. All travelocity did was plug you into SABRE, which is then plugged into the hotel computer systems.
Most likely, if the hotel is a "direct connect" participant with SABRE, and you bought a SABRIZED hotel, the hotel already has your reservation.
If not- the hotel may take a bit to get the information into thier systems.
On consolidated hotels- don't call the hotel directly in the event of a problem. If you have a problem, Travelocity won't take respondsibility because you did not contact them.
If something goes wrong, you want to have notes on Travelocity's records that you called in and told them of the problem.
I dont' see any problem with calling BOTH- but if there are any changes, ect- go through Travelocity.
If you call the hotel and think there is a problem ask them to DO NOTHING AT THIS TIME, and then call Travelocity- have them fix it.
